An outdoor recreational, dining or study area can be transformed using one of our waterproof barrel vault shade structures. Designed, manufactured and installed by Shade to Order, this tension membrane structure has provided La Trobe University’s students, staff and guests with a warm, dry and visually pleasing lunch, study and common area.

For the health, comfort and safety of their students and staff an engineered tension membrane structure was required it will tolerate severe weather and last decades. Its innovative design allows the structure to be free standing without attaching to, or its loads compromising the existing building.

It’s three-dimensional design and structural steel combined with the highest quality architectural fabric has maximised La Trobe University’s outdoor dining and recreation potential. It has also provided their customers and staff with excellent weather protection. This barrel vault structure has been uniquely designed to complement the existing building and surroundings.

The use of one continuous membrane skin although more complicated during installation, gives exceptionally higher weather and visual performance rather than attempting to link separate structures together. The translucency of the fabric has allowed natural light to disperse through, keeping lighting and electrical costs to a minimum.

This impressive, industrial inspired shade sail structure has a 15-year warranty and is manufactured from the highest quality PVC fabric and hot dipped galvanised steel for ultra-corrosive protection.

This outdoor shelter with the application of heaters, is ensuring La Trobe University’s students are kept comfortable no matter what the weather does.
