Charlestown Bowling Club
Charlestown Newcastle, NSW Australia September 2011 PVC Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) (White) Hot Dipped Galvanised Steel Barrel Vault Shade Sail 500m2 |
This barrel vault shade structure has completely transformed the alfresco area. Designed, manufactured and installed by Shade to Order, this tension membrane structure has provided Charlestown Bowling Club’s patrons and bowlers with a shaded, warm, dry and stylish alfresco experience.
One of our durable and engineered membrane structures was required and will tolerate severe weather, lasting decades. Its ingenious design allows the structure to be attached to the club, whilst not imposing any of its tension loads on the existing building, allowing complete rain coverage. A guttering system has also been integrated onto the structure for focused stormwater drainage.
A relationship between the three-dimensional design, steel columns, compression beams and the architectural fabric has produced an outdoor alfresco area with excellent weather protection. It has also formed an impressive and unique look for the existing building.
The use of one continuous membrane skin although more complicated during installation, gives incredibly higher weather and aesthetic performance than attempting to link separate structures together. The translucency of the fabric has still allowed for an abundance of ambient light, keeping lighting and electrical costs lower.
This striking shade sail structure has a 20-year warranty and is manufactured from the highest quality PVC fabric and hot dipped galvanised steel for ultra-corrosive protection.
This outdoor awning compliments the existing alfresco area whilst remaining extremely practical. It allows Charlestown Bowling Club’s patrons to stay comfortable in both hot or cold weather and keep dry all year round.
